Blueberry Banana Smoothie

Blueberry Banana Nut Smoothie

This winter I have been making healthy smoothies for breakfast..Bought myself a big present..a Vitamix.  Big WOW!  I hear the Nutribullet is a great alternative at a lower price. As I experiment with my new kitchen toy, I’ll share my discoveries. Today I made a terrific tasting smoothie.

I added a bit of peanut butter and kale, grapes and kefir to a classic blueberry banana smoothie and Voila!

I use the best ingredients i can find because my cooking is based on the theory that if you put in good you get good. But feel free to substitute as you wish.

Smoothies are very flexible and a marvelous way of putting in a lot of healthy ingredients whose taste will be covered over by the fruits and or nuts. In fact daily I put a fiber powder in mine and the rest of the ingredients hide it.  Raw organic nut butters with no added sugar are essential to my pantry. And I always add some form of protein to my meals. In this case I am using the kefir and the nut butter. If you toss in an egg use only organic, pasture raised eggs that do not contain antibiotics, please.  Because you deserve the very best!

The amounts are approximate and should serve one person.

1/2 cup Wyman’s frozen wild blueberries

1/2 -2/3 cup Redwood Hill Goat Kefir

1/4-1/2 cup unsweetened hemp milk

1 big heaping teaspoon peanut butter..or other nut butter

1 medium ripe banana

8-10 whole red seedless grapes

1 or two raw kale leafs…you might also try this recipe substituting a raw organic beet, well washed, skin and all for the kale..Let me know if you do and how it worked out please.

Whir it all in the blender til very smooth and drink.

Salute! To Your Health!
