Rare Pair of Glass Footed Bowls


This extraordinary pair of footed bowls was produced in 1914 for exhibition at the Important Cologne Exhibition for the Deutscher WerkBund. They were designed by Alfred Walter at the the K. u. K. Fachschule Steinschonau at Kamenicky Senov (Steinschonau) Czech Republic. They are of blown clear glass, frosted, enameled and gilded. They are achieved by means of the broncit technique which was developed in 1910 at Steinschönau, Bohemia. An example of these bowls is held in the permanant collections of the Dallas Art Museum and The Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas Madrid. An example of the bowl was also shown in a traveling exhibition at the Cooper Hewitt Museum in 2001.
