This Chestnut and Leather Arm Chair made in the 20’s is a Sardinian classic folk art design. Both in the materials used and the multiple art motifs it follows traditional chair making found for centuries in Sardinia. It’s bold Pavone (peacock) arm supports with scrolling tail feathers, floral rosette and various chip carved motifs are all typical of what is found in traditional folk designs from the island. The chair retains a lovely old patina. See below more on Sardinian Folk Art.
