Venini. Catalogue Raisonné 1921-1986 offers an in-depth account of the glassworks founded by trained attorney Paolo Venini in 1921. The company was owned by the family until 1986 when it was sold. The catalogue contains 250 items produced over six decades of activity. Editor Anna Venini Diaz de Santillana traces the history of the ‘Vetrerie Venini’ glasshouse through successive art directors: Napoleone Martinuzzi, Carlo Scarpa, Paolo Venini, Tomaso Buzzi, Fulvio Bianconi, and Ludovico Diaz de Santillana.

Sculptural Ceiling Light by Carlo Nason for A.V. Mazzega

This is the first time I’ve seen this rare model LS 163 by Carlo Nason for A.V. Mazzega. Six large discs are worked in the Zanfirico technique and hang from a lacquered white cieling support at the end of very fine chains. It has one light bulb 100 W. Each disc is 36 CM 14 inches in Diameter. This light is part mobile and part hanging lamp.

Large Wood Gordon and Jane Martz Lamp

Tall stacked walnut lamp by Gordan and Jane Martz for Marshall Studios. This model is the SW-31 square lamp. The lamp is slightly tapered measuring at the bottom, 5.5″ and at the top 5″. It retains it’s mellow patina having not been refinished.

Covers Bauhaus origins to 1981 line of furnishings and products. 183 black and white & 230 color illustrations. This book features the designers, architects, artists, and sculptors who have designed Knoll’s furniture and textiles. They include Mies van der Rohe, Eero Saarinen, Alvar Aalto, George Nakashima, Isamu Noguchi, Ettore Sottsass, Florence Knoll, Harry Bertoia, Marcel Breuer, and Anni Albers. Book design by Massimo Vignelli with contributions by Richard Saul Wurman and Christine Rae. Authored and edited by Eric Larrabee. Dust jacket has light wear, rubbing, and foxing inside edges. The hard cover seems to have a slight warp.

Iittala Art Object/Vase by Tapio Wirkkala

The Finnish company, Iittala produced this Art Object/Vase by Tapio Wirkkala for only two years, 1970-1972. Weighing over 14 pounds, it is made by centrifugally forcing glass into a carved wooden mold. These molds were often finished by Wikkala himself. From early spring through summer the Wikkala family would move to their handmade log cabin in Lapland. There Tapio, Rut Bryk and their children explored the natural world around them creating artworks of enduring appeal. Melting ice was a recurring theme for Tapio Wirkkala, and is beautifully depicted in this rare object. Signed Tapio Wirkkala 3441.
